Everton's Summer of 2026

So, it is almost the start of the new Premier League season and I'm somewhat looking forward to it after a heartbraking World Cup for England. As it stands Everton have only made five signings so far, so let's go through them.

Merlin Röhl

The German player was a guaranteed signing since we had an obligation to buy him if we stayed up in the Prem. Ho only really got major game time towards the painful end of the season, but he was one of the few bright spots in that period. He helps us to pad out our midfield and so I'm very happy to have him sticking around.

Tyrique George

Another loan player from last season we've signed permanently, my feelings here are generally the same as they are for Rohl. He was a good part of the end of our season and certainly offers us a lot of pace and ability on the wing. I'm very happy we've brought him in permanently.

Hayden Hackney

Probably our 'marquee' signing so far, Hackney was one of the best players of the Championship last season and I'm confident he'll be able to make the step up to the Prem. He's already shown some great ability during our pre-season and I'm certain he'll do great for us during this season.

Christian Nørgaard The Danish midfielder, bought from Arsenal for £7m, is an okay depth signing. He's spent one season at Arsenal, not playing much but still winning the league and getting to the final of the UCL. There's no doubt there's a player in there that will get plenty of time on the pitch with us. It's a good depth signing, especially since we've lost Idrissa Gana Gueye, and apparently he was very important in the dressing room for Arsenal's title win.

Brennan Johnson This is certainly a signing. Making a straight swap for Dwight McNeil seems like really good business for us. We give them a less than £20m player who's badly out of form for us and has one year left on his contract for essentially there biggest signing. He made waves at Nottingham Forest which is why he was bought by Spurs, a place where he'd go on to be the biggest scorer one season for them. Sure he's been poor for Palace, but if Johnson can find a bit of his old form for us he'll be a great signing.

Conclusion Overall, it's been an okay window. Relatively muted and not much to write home about. The obvious need is to sign a Right Back. I don't think any Everton fan is confident in Nathan Patterson, although he was alright in our pre-season friendly against Newcastle. There's a few RB names being passed around the rumour mill, so getting one in will help massively with a push for Europe next season. There's still apparently ongoing talks to bring Jack Grealish who I'd adore seeing back. They always say to not fall in love with a loan player, but it took him no time to get the fans on his side.

I'm relatively excited for next season. Obviously I'm not picturing us to win the league, that'd be insane, but I'm of the opinion that the goal has to be to push for a European place. We were so close to it last season and then we just fell apart. A go at the Conference League would be amazing for us. A decent cup run as well would be really good. Winning Silverware in that would be the dream.
